Areas of Expertise

Ryan Kobler is a machine learning analyst in our Research Department. Her research interests include affordable housing, causal inference, and algorithmic fairness — with a particular focus on fairness in mortgage markets. Working at the intersection of economics and machine learning, Ryan combines these disciplines to answer questions that seek to improve people's economic lives.

She also contributes to building tools that make our research more accessible. A highlight of Ryan’s career has been coauthoring “Measuring Fairness in the U.S. Mortgage Market,” which will be developed into an interactive dashboard.

Ryan started at the Bank in 2019 as a summer research intern and was hired in 2020 as a research analyst. Prior to joining the Bank, she was a research assistant in the economics department at Reed College. Ryan has a master of science degree in applied and computational mathematics from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Reed College.
