Areas of Expertise

Mariah Allen is a community development research analyst in our Community Development and Regional Outreach Department. Mariah works on topics related to housing affordability and mortgage lending, using data to monitor trends in the housing market for the Third District and how they compare with trends for the United States overall. She also supports the Anchor Economy Initiative, with a focus on the impact educational institutions have on the economy of our District.

Mariah’s primary research interests are household finance and consumer credit. She’s interested in understanding how the greater economy affects households and how households respond to shocks such as recessions or personal emergencies. A highlight of her work has been creating stories with data to make information easily accessible to the public. One example of this is the Home Mortgage Explorer.

Mariah was previously a senior research assistant in our Consumer Finance Institute. Prior to joining the Bank, she was a scholar with the American Economic Association Summer Program and an intern at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Mariah has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and economics from Marymount University.
