Philadelphia, Pa. – The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia today announced the appointment of James S. Ely to vice president of the Public Affairs Department.
Ely works closely with senior executives in planning and executing communications strategies to support the Bank’s internal and external communications. His responsibilities include media relations, crisis communications, web communications, graphics, publications and editorial services, speech writing for the president and senior management, as well as the Bank’s "Money in Motion" exhibit and conference center.
Ely has more than 20 years’ experience in public affairs and corporate communications. For the past seven years, he was vice president - communications for Airgas, Inc., (NYSE: ARG) in Radnor, Pa., where his duties included financial and acquisitions-related communications for the $4 billion company. He previously worked in the insurance and financial sector, including 10 years with CIGNA Corporation (NYSE: CI), where he managed communications for several corporate staff and business divisions. His career includes corporate, agency, and daily journalism experience.
Ely received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University. He is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
