Philadelphia, PA — The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia will host the Economic Mobility Summit on April 22 and 23, 2025, at the Loews Hotel in Center City Philadelphia.
The summit will bring together community and business leaders from across the country to discuss the importance of economic mobility, the challenges facing communities, and best practices for cross-sector collaboration to strengthen economic opportunity. Panels will feature researchers discussing how to put data into practice, executive leaders discussing the business case for investing in career development resources, and workforce experts providing insight into how to move workers up the career ladder.
“To meet the Federal Reserve’s policy goals of promoting maximum employment and stable prices, we must understand how people from all walks of life experience and navigate the economy,” said Theresa Singleton, senior vice president and community affairs officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. “The summit will bring together local and national leaders to identify emerging issues related to economic mobility, as well as opportunities to collaborate. Attendees will come away with innovative models to bring research on economic mobility into action in their communities.”
The following speakers will be in attendance, among others:
- Raj Chetty, Director, Opportunity Insights, and Professor of Economics, Harvard University
- Austan Goolsbee, President and Chief Executive Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (virtual)

- Philip N. Jefferson, Vice Chair, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
- Cherelle L. Parker, Mayor, City of Philadelphia
- Sarah Rosen Wartell, President, Urban Institute
- Angela F. Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer, United Way Worldwide
Attendees will also participate in interactive breakout sessions designed to understand local approaches to building cross-sector collaborations, addressing policy gaps, and elevating community voices. These sessions will cover topics including:
- employer partnerships to advance economic mobility;
- growth of quality jobs;
- innovation in apprenticeship models; and
- barriers to employment, including childcare needs.
The conference will conclude with a session focused on economic mobility in Philadelphia, during which The Pew Charitable Trusts will present its Philadelphia 2025 “State of the City” findings. Pew’s annual “State of the City” report provides insights into Philadelphia’s labor market, economic conditions, and demographics, as well as challenges facing the city, and it will serve as the basis for the session.
