Blackout Periods

Per Federal Reserve policy, staff must observe a blackout period on monetary policy communications around each regularly scheduled Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting. The blackout period begins at midnight of the second Saturday (Eastern Time) before the FOMC meeting and ends at midnight (Eastern Time) the Thursday after the meeting. Please note upcoming blackout dates when making requests for public speaking events or interviews.

Blackout dates for 2019 are as follows:

January 19–31
March 9–21
April 20–May 2
June 8–20
July 20–August 1
September 7–19
October 19–31
November 30–December 12

Blackout dates for 2020 are as follows:

January 18–30
March 7–19
April 18–30
May 30–June 11
July 18–30
September 5–17
October 24–November 6
December 5–17
