Visiting the Philadelphia Fed

The Philadelphia Fed is located at Ten Independence Mall, on the corner of 6th and Arch streets. Visitors to the Money in Motion exhibit should enter at the 6th Street entrance. All other visitors should enter at the 7th Street entrance.

The Bank's Library and Research Center is open to the public by appointment only, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Out-of-State Travellers

Philadelphia International Airport

Trains depart from the airport to downtown every half hour, from early morning until late at night. The 20-minute ride makes five stops: Eastwick; University City; 30th Street Station (30th & Market); Suburban Station (16th Street & JFK Blvd.); and Market East Station (11th & Market). Market East Station is within walking distance of the Fed.

Travel time from the airport to the Fed by taxi is approximately 25 minutes at off-peak traffic times. Approximate one-way cost is $30.

Amtrak

Amtrak trains operate from 30th Street Station (30th & Market Streets). Cab fare from the station to the Fed is approximately $12.

For an alternative, SEPTA's Market-Frankford subway-elevated line runs from 30th & Market to 8th & Market Streets, two blocks from the Philadelphia Fed.

Driving Directions

From the South

Take I-95 North.
Follow the signs for "Central Phila/I-676" (Exit 22).
Follow signs for Phila/Independence Hall/Callowhill.
Keep right at the fork in the ramp.
Stay straight on Callowhill Street.
Turn left on to North 6th Street.
Take 6th Street approximately two blocks.
The Bank is on your right.

From the North (NJ Turnpike via Benjamin Franklin Bridge)

Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 4.
Take Rt. 73 North to Rt. 38 West to US 30.
Go over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to I-676.
Follow signs for 5th and 6th Street.
Stay in the right-hand lane.
Go past 5th Street exit.
Follow signs for Independence Hall/6th Street.
Make a right at the first light on to Franklin Street (bypassing the first on-ramp to I-95).
Go around bend.
Merge on to 6th Street South.
Take 6th Street approximately two blocks south.
The Bank is on your right.

From the North (NJ Turnpike via Betsy Ross Bridge)

Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 4.
Take Rt. 73 North to Rt. 90 (Betsy Ross Bridge).
Take the Betsy Ross Bridge into Philadelphia.
Follow signs for I-95 South (Center City).
Take I-95 South.
Follow the signs for "Central Phila/I-676" (Exit 22).
Keep right at the fork in the ramp.
Stay straight on Callowhill Street.
Turn left on to North 6th Street.
Take 6th Street two blocks.

From the North (via I-95)

Take I-95 South.
Follow the signs for "Central Phila/I-676" (Exit 22).
Stay to your right.
Follow Phila / Independence Hall / Callowhill Street signs.
Make right at the light.
Stay straight on Callowhill Street.
Turn left on to North 6th Street.
Take 6th Street two blocks.
The Bank is on your right.

From the West

Take I-76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) to the Valley Forge Exit (Exit 326).
Follow signs to Philadelphia I-76 East.
Remain on I-76 East for about 25 miles until you see signs for Central Philadelphia to 676 East (Exit 344).
Continue on 676 East to the 8th Street Exit.
Make a right on to 8th Street.
Make a left on to Race Street.
Make a right on 6th Street.
Take 6th Street approximately two blocks.
The Bank is on your right.

From the East

Take Atlantic City Expressway to 42 North.
Follow 42 North to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge (Rt. 676), crossing into Philadelphia.
Follow signs for 5th and 6th Street.
Stay in the right-hand lane.
Go past 5th Street exit.
Follow signs for Independence Hall/6th Street.
Make a right at the first light on to Franklin Street (bypassing the first on-ramp to I-95).
Go around bend.
Merge on to 6th Street South.
Take 6th Street two blocks.
