Bank Announces Officer Promotions

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia has announced the promotions of Jeanne R. Rentezelas to senior vice president and general counsel, Jake Lofton to officer in Cash Services, Pattie Scafide to officer in Financial Management Services, Kim Taylor to officer in Human Resources, and Linda Van Valkenburg to officer in Information Technology Services.

Jeanne R. RentezelasJeanne R. Rentezelas

Rentezelas joined the Bank in 2010 as vice president and general counsel in the Legal Department. In 2013, she assumed responsibility for Law Enforcement and Facilities Management in addition to the Legal Department. At the System level, she chairs the Subcommittee on Legal Counsel. Prior to joining the Bank, she served as counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, D.C., from 2009-10 where she served on the Payment Fraud Working Group as well as President Obama’s Nondiscrimination Working Group.

Before joining the FDIC, Rentezelas was counsel with Stradley, Ronon, Stevens & Young, LLP, in Cherry Hill, NJ. Earlier in her career, she served as vice president and senior assistant counsel at Popular Financial Holdings, Inc. in Marlton, NJ, from 2002-07. She was also an associate with Blank Rome, LLP, in Philadelphia, and a law clerk to Federal Magistrate Judge M. Faith Angell. Rentezelas earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law.

Jake LoftonJake Lofton

Lofton joined the Bank’s Audit Department in 1994. In 1997, he transferred to Cash Services, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including serving as the division manager of the Cash Internal Control and Compliance Division and manager of the High-Speed Processing Division. Lofton worked to consolidate and upgrade the high-speed processing functions in Cash Services. He has also contributed to many System workgroups.

Prior to joining the Bank, Lofton was system auditor at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C., from 1989-94. He received his bachelor of science in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Pattie ScafidePattie Scafide

Scafide joined the Bank’s Accounting Department in 1982. She subsequently served in the Check Department, the Electronic Funds Transfer Department, and the Cash Fiscal Product Office, before returning to Financial Management Services in 2001. There, Scafide was promoted to senior manager in 2005, assuming responsibility for several departmental functions, including expense accounting, asset management, and capital budgeting. In her new role, she will also oversee the accounting for the Bank’s tenant recoveries and the control of actuarial-related health and welfare benefit funding.

Scafide began her career in 1976 as an accounting analyst with Penn Central Corporation. She earned her bachelor of science in accounting from St. Joseph’s University. Scafide is a founding member and serves on the board of Power of Pink, a nonprofit that supports women facing various health conditions in Delaware and Chester counties.

Kim TaylorKim Taylor

Taylor joined the Bank’s Human Resources Department in 1993 as a compensation analyst. She then was promoted to a position in Cash Services, where she served from 1994-97. Taylor returned to Human Resources in 1997 and became employee relations manager in 2001, where she remained until her most recent promotion. In her new role, Taylor will oversee compensation and benefits, while continuing to oversee employee relations, workers’ compensation and safety, medical, and the department’s administrative unit.

Taylor received her bachelor of science in criminal justice from Kutztown University. In 1992, she received her master of science in human organization science from Villanova University.

Linda Van ValkenburgLinda Van Valkenburg

Van Valkenburg began her career with the Bank in 1987 in Information Technology Services. Throughout her tenure, she has held positions of increasing responsibility. In 2007, she was promoted to systems development group manager, where she oversaw development activities for the Collateral Management System and the Treasury Collateral Management and Monitoring System. In her new role, Van Valkenburg will also oversee Advanced Software Engineering, the Local and Enterprise Application Development and Support, and the Legacy Treasury Direct areas.

Prior to joining the Bank, Van Valkenburg worked as a programming consultant for Bell of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia from 1986-87. She started her career as a senior programmer analyst for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance in Newark, NJ, in 1982. Van Valkenburg earned her bachelor of science in business administration from Montclair State University and is also certified as a project management professional. She is a member of the Project Management Institute and is an alumna of Leadership Philadelphia.
