Rentezelas Named Vice President, General Counsel

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia today announced the appointment of Jeanne R. Rentezelas to vice president and general counsel, starting June 21. She will report to First Vice President Bill Stone and oversee the Legal Department and its three staff attorneys, who represent and counsel the Philadelphia Fed on matters of law, policy, and ethics.

For the past 15 months, Rentezelas has served as counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, D.C. She actively participated in briefing FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair and represented the FDIC in federal interagency meetings, including serving on the Payment Fraud Working Group and President Obama's Nondiscrimination Working Group.

Prior to joining the FDIC, Rentezelas was of counsel with Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP, in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she advised banks and other financial institutions on various financial regulatory matters.

Before that, Rentezelas served with Popular Financial Holdings, Inc. of Marlton, NJ. She joined the company in 2002 as an assistant vice president and assistant counsel and advanced to vice president and senior assistant counsel, overseeing an in-house legal staff in the consumer-lending company.

Rentezelas was also an associate in the financial services department of the Philadelphia office of Blank Rome, LLP, and a law clerk to Federal Magistrate Judge M. Faith Angell. She is a graduate of the Rutgers University School of Law and Cornell University.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia helps formulate and implement monetary policy, supervises banks and bank holding companies, and provides financial services to depository institutions and the federal government. It is one of the 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., make up the Federal Reserve System. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank serves eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
