Philadelphia, Pa. — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke will participate in Rethink. Recover. Rebuild: Reinventing Older Communities on Thursday, May 13. The national community development conference, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, will be held at the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing on Wednesday, May 12, through Friday, May 14.

At the conference, Chairman Bernanke will join Jeremy Nowak, president and CEO of The Reinvestment Fund External Link and deputy chairman of the Philadelphia Fed's board of directors, for a brief conversation on economic and community development issues.

The fourth biennial Reinventing Older Communities conference will focus on rebuilding older communities in the wake of the foreclosure crisis and the federal government's economic stimulus programs. The participants include some of the nation's leading policymakers, community developers, bankers, researchers, funders, planners, and government representatives. Listen to a series of podcasts on the conference.

The conference will cover such topics as preventing foreclosure, rethinking homeownership, dealing with the fiscal crises facing cities and towns, considering the future of the Community Reinvestment Act, and reforming housing finance.
