Federal Reserve Notes issued by the 12 Federal Reserve Banks originally included the Banks’ seals and their Fed District numbers and letters. For instance, the Philadelphia Fed’s Third District is designated 3-C, while the New York Fed’s Second District is designated 2-B. Although the design of Federal Reserve Notes has changed over the years, Fed District letters and numbers still appear on Federal Reserve Notes.
