The Supervision, Regulation and Credit Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia supervises and regulates financial holding companies (FHCs), bank holding companies (BHCs), and state-chartered member banks in the Third Federal Reserve District, which includes eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and the entire state of Delaware. The Bank also supervises all overseas and international operations owned by District banks, BHCs, and FHCs, including the activities of Edge and Agreement corporations, as well as U.S. branches, agencies, and nonbank operations of foreign banks located in the District.
We work with other federal and state authorities to promote safety and soundness in the operation of the financial industry and fair and equitable treatment of consumers in their financial transactions. We do this through processing applications, and through on-site examinations, off-site monitoring, and enforcement actions, when warranted.
