R. Scott Smith, Jr., is the former chairman and CEO of Fulton Financial Corporation; he retired in December 2012. He currently serves on the board of Fulton Financial Corporation. He was named president and chief operating officer and a director of Fulton Financial Corporation in 2001. Smith also served as executive vice president of Fulton Financial Corporation. Before assuming the positions of chairman, president, and CEO of Fulton Bank in 1998, Smith held several other management positions at the bank. He joined Fulton Bank as director of personnel in 1978.
From 2008 through 2010, Smith served as the Third District’s representative to the Board of Governors’ Federal Advisory Council.
Smith earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from the Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from Widener University. Smith is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association’s National Personnel School, the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, the School of Bank Management at Columbia University, and the Pennsylvania State University’s Executive Management Program.
